ON MY WAY
(When I went to send Soul Part 6 - Soul
Part 5 was still in the que and was sent first. So if you get two
newsletters please forgive me. I didn't know the process wasn't
complete from before.) I leave Tuesday, March 21st
for Chennai, South India. I have received several prophecies from
reliable sources that I will encounter the fiercest battles I have
ever faced because the enemy is very angry about what God is about
to do. But the Lord has promised that the enemy will not be able to
touch me and I will escape out of the enemies plan. The Lord has
promised many will be saved, healed and delivered and that the Love
of Christ will manifest in a new way continually. Please keep these
things in prayer. This prophet also confirmed that this trip is the
Lord’s trip and the Lord’s plan. Praise God.
I still need a lot of money for this trip. I will go
regardless. I have received several words that the Lord will provide
and I rest easy leaving this in His capable hands. Money can be
given even after I am gone. I will be able to access it via ATM. I
have peace about it.
Please stand with me in prayer through out this trip and see
what the Lord will do as we stand together in faith. I know He will
do great and awesome things.
Afraid of Self
Most people in some way or form are afraid of themselves. Many
are not even aware of it because they never stop to think about it
or ‘why’ they react to things the way they do. Let’s go back to our
original story in this series about the Bunny, the Bear and the
Wolf. The fear comes from the Soul (the bunny) just like in the
story he was afraid of the Wolf (spirit) and Bear (body). Often the
Soul just wants to stay in a hole or run away. It takes a God
anointing to face yourself in truth fearlessly and let God deal with
you. The fact that the fear is rooted into the soul is something we
need to know and deal with.
Remember the Bear was so scary that he said, “Everyone is
afraid of me.” Wolf was scary and intimidating. But little scared
Tom walked up to him and starred him right in the eyes. It’s a God
change that enables us to deal with our self and not be afraid or
run away from our self. It may sound strange to you that it takes
God’s anointing not to be afraid of dealing with self and to believe
for self but it’s true. In spite of surface appearance or actions
all three parts of Tom wanted to change. We must want to change at
every level.
Notice there was a real danger for Tom from his own spirit and
body. People do things to hurt themselves, drugs, suicide,
overworking, over eating, etc. but Tom, though naturally afraid
wasn’t this time because he had a deep inner revelation of Jesus and
he believed the Lord would do something to help him. We all need
this revelation in facing our self. This revelation of faith seemed
to just suddenly be there but in truth it was being built inside his
soul as he journeyed. He talked with the Lord along the way,
(through the spoken and written word and worship we can do that too)
and real fellowship sharing every moment with the Lord. Jesus was
real to him and that gave him faith. Jesus was real to him
because of the time he spent with the Lord. It’s a simple process
and a journey moving forward one step at a time.
The soul was saved first and was the key to winning his other
parts. Many never journey far enough to reach past the original soul
level salvation and then wonder why the others parts of their life
are pulling them down. Wolf’s very nature changed from predator to
protector. But for many Christians that never reach that stage –
they are still a predator in the midst of the sheep, simply because
they never let their inner self be changed or accessed by the Lord.
Wolf didn’t believe he could change, he thought perhaps there was no
hope for him, it was Tom (the soul) that believed for him and kept
him on track through the journey. How strangely things turned around
when the wolf met Jesus face to face, he was suddenly the timid one
and Tom was the sure one because of the closeness he had developed
with the Lord along the way. So a healthy soul in tune with the Lord
is necessary and a process worthy of our time and attention.
Our Body
On the journey Tom stopped fearing his body and helped his
body. How do we fear our body? What do you fear?
- Sickness – terminal illness and painful incurable sickness,
like cancer, allergies, arthritis, etc.
- Aging – Not being able to take care of normal things, mental
and physical loss, dependency
- Failing and urges – uncontrollable appetite, sexual urges,
inability and weakness
The body can fiercely push us around but we’re to be the ones
in charge; the soul must not be intimidated by self, whether body or
spirit. The body was made to follow the soul and will if the
soul is following Jesus moment by moment. Now I am not just talking
about in an anointed meeting but moment-by-moment, day in and day
out. Have you ever tried to follow a leader that was unsure,
confused, fearful, or constantly changing their mind about the goal.
But we expect our spirit and body to follow our soul under the same
circumstances. It doesn’t work. It is by our continuous focus on the
Lord that we gain the position and attitude we need to lead our very
self.
Tom’s nature of fear was both taught and inherited from his mom
BUT his true God nature was fearless – and fearlessness must begin
with being fearlessness of self. His constant fellowship with Jesus
gave him such a revelation of Jesus that he believed with simplicity
for every part of him self and every situation. That fearlessness
and faith brought the others along step by step until all parts of
him had changed. It’s a progressive formula:
Fellowship with Jesus to Fearless Faith = Wholeness,
change, peace and joy. (Which is what we are all seeking)
Many feel they can never be completely happy inside – I know I
used to feel that way. But wholeness brings true joy. As we
fellowship and continue we change. Our expectations may be a bit off
like Tom’s were, he expected big teeth and claws but the change was
on the inside and the end result was much more effective. When we
walk in this manner it brings us to a place of covenant where we
give all that we are to the Lord. Wait, didn’t we already give all?
Sort of, but how could you covenant with what you didn’t have? If
you weren’t one with yourself, you didn’t have all of you to
covenant with. We must be one to be able to covenant all.
That brings us to a place of new beginnings, a place of
destiny. We give all. We mustn’t keep anything for ourselves, not
even the smallest part. Now a new journey can begin that changes us
in a new and different way. Before we learned to be one with our
self – to give all – now we learn to become one with Him as we
continue to journey in a whole new way more completely with Him. We
become a team with our self, spirit, soul and body, learning our
weaknesses and strengths. We learn to help with our strengths and be
a ware of our weaknesses for the team. But now we are in a position
to become a team with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit too. We must
know them each and cooperate with them becoming one with them on the
journey just like before we became one with our self on the journey.
Not just for our own benefit, though it will benefit us, but for
God’s original design and purpose.
Fear Robber
So what’s stopping us – usually at one level or another fear.
Even most anger originates with fear. Romans 8:15 For you did not
receive the spirit of bondage again to fear –
Praise God we didn’t receive a spirit of bondage that would be
evident because of the fear that comes with it. 2 Timothy 1:7 For
God has not given us a spirit of fear.
Hebrews 2:15 and release those who through fear of
death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Fear
and bondage go together.)
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect
love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.
(Okay we admit we have fear, then what. We can’t change it.
Perfect God love – fellowship with God – casts out fear and changes
you.) I remember many years ago at a time that I was in difficult
situations that caused lots of fear to say the least. I would go to
the fire stairs to pray during my lunch hour. As I removed the veils
of fear (as we taught in Broken Trust) a peace would settle over me
and I would rest in the presence of the Lord. I would literally
forget what I had been afraid of. After years of doing that the veil
wore so thin it simply no longer existed. You can do the same thing
but it’s a process and we must diligent to stay with it.
In Luke 19: 12-27 we have the story of the 10 men who were each
given 1 talent each to use for the Kingdom. When the King returned
the first had gained 10 talents from his 1 talent, the second had
gained 5 from his one talent but verse 21 one hid the talent saying
for I feared you because you are an austere man. He hid his
talent because of fear and it cost him what? Everything he had. He
lost it all. Fear is a robber.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving… shall have
their part in the lake which, burneth with fire and brimstone: which
is the second death. Fear is such a robber that it can rob you
of eternal life. It can rob your eternity.
Isaiah 66:4 So will I… bring their fears on them; Our
fears call in what we are afraid of like calling a dog to come
inside. By fear we call in the robbers of our promises and destiny;
our family, health, provision and well being. Remember the fear is
seated in the soul, the soul is our connector to Jesus and the only
thing that will change us is a process of being diligent in spending
time with Him.
Colossians 2:18 Let no one cheat [rob or beguile] you of
your reward [prize – judgment for or against you] Fear will
rob you of your destiny. It will take your prize, your very life.
Are there 2 Fears?
Psalms 23:4 I will fear no evil. Again and again we are
told not to fear, from Moses to Joshua (Joshua 1:9 "Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor
be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go)
and even Jesus said it. (Matthew 10:31 "Do not fear therefore;
you are of more value than many sparrows.) But there are also
many places we are told to fear. Is the Bible contradicting itself?
No.
We are to fear the Lord. Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD
is the beginning of wisdom; Malachi 4:2 But to you who fear My
name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His
wings; Acts 9:31… walking in the fear of the Lord and
in the comfort of the Holy Spirit,
You might conclude that there are two fears – but not really.
Though there is the human soul fear and a spirit of fear, which can
be cast out and replaced, there is only one human fear. The question
is not multiple fears but where the one fear man has is aimed. As we
quoted before in 2Tim 1:7 God has not given us a spirit of fear.
But even Jesus feared, Hebrews 5:7 who, in the days of His
flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with
vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death,
and was heard because of His godly fear,
So there is a godly fear and that is what we need to have. We
don’t want to throw the car (fear) away, we want to fix it so it
will stay on track. Fear aimed wrong is the Greek word Phobia =
something that causes you to run away. But Holy Fear is a path of
Love and it draws us nearer to God. We must discern between a spirit
of fear (an outside force of fear on you) or the fear of your own
heart turned from the light of the Son to the Shadows of the
circumstances. Shadows come to cause us to aim our fear in a wrong
way and thereby bring bondage. It eventually will give substance to
the shadow you are focusing on; but love turns our fear to God by
faith and we by that love-faith begin to give substance to the Lord
in our lives instead; by our steadfast focus on the Lord, by our
fear of the Lord until His love image is formed in us.
Define Fear
Let’s look at some of the definitions of fear. In the OT Fear =
Morah = reverence or awe. Isaiah 8:13 The LORD of hosts, Him you
shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your
dread.
OT Fear = Pachad = to be startled, tremble, stand in awe,
revere, fear, be amazed. Prov. 28:14 Happy is the man who is
always pachad (reverent) Hosea 3:5… They shall fear the
LORD and His goodness in the latter days. (which is
now)
OT Fear = Yare = To be afraid of someone. Ex 1:17 But the
midwives feared God verse 20 therefore God dealt well with
the midwives.
NT Fear = Phobos = to run away, fear, terror. Acts
9:31…walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of
the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied. (Walking in the fear of
Lord lead them to the Holy Spirit’s comfort and brought
multiplication.)
Fear Focus
I saw a picture of Jesus standing in front of me shinning. I
was looking at Him but suddenly I was aware of the enemy behind me.
I couldn’t let him sneak up on me so I turned around and watched
him. I began to pray and call out to God to intervene, never taking
my eyes off the enemy. “Jesus do something – Come on.” But He had
His arms folded unable to intervene until I turned my gaze back to
Him. Where you fear you focus and where you focus opens the door
empowering what you look at. When I turned to face Jesus it
released Him to intervene. (Just like focusing on the enemy was
empowering him against me.)
It is the same thing concerning self. If I’m looking at Jesus
and then I start thinking “I can’t do this.” “I should have,” “I’m
just too old or too young or too something.” Then I have turned from
Jesus and began to focus on my own shadow – fear of self. I pray but
until I turn my fear and focus back to the Lord, I’m stuck. Be when
I turn to Jesus I am released.
We only have one fear and our focus goes wherever it
goes. We must train it and aim it carefully. Give it thought and
be aware of it continually.
Alarm System
So our fear becomes an alarm system that tells us our focus is
off, which puts us in danger. Then we must quickly do whatever we
need to do to put it back on track before things get out of hand
against us. The problem isn’t going to change by fearing it but it
will change by turning our fear and focus to Jesus. Why? Because
that will release His hand to help us. It is like unlocking your
invisible shield (our area of personal space that we have authority
over and only what we permit can come into it). We need to become
aware of what opens and closes that shield and to whom we open it.
We need Jesus in our personal space but often by default of focus
and fear we let in the enemy and block the Lord out. Worship is
reverence and reverence is fear, therefore worship is fear; a holy
fear. Worship is a good way to refocus and so is proclaiming
scripture.
It’s not enough to know we are afraid but we need to know how
to refocus that fear because that fear is a key that gives access to
whatever we fear.
Conclusion
I’ve heard many sermons on fear but it’s not enough to say
don’t fear, we have to have some practical steps to take and be
diligent in taking them to see the needed change in our lives. It’s
something we need to train our self in and no one else can do that
for us. Fear is a key that gives access to who we are and we need to
be on guard concerning who we let in with that key.
We need to learn how to focus our fear on God in a holy awe and
respect. The very act of doing that and practicing that displaces
wrong fear, like ruts being filled in for a new road. Be aware that
your fears are telling your something – warning you. If the strong
man knew when his house would be broken into he wouldn’t allow it to
be robbed. Jesus said, Luke 11:21 "When a strong man, fully
armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. Guard
your heart against fear by realizing it is a wrong focus. How do you
refocus, you put your eyes on the Lord and He will help you do that.
The more you do that the more confidence it builds in you to trust
Him. The more you trust Him and focus on Him the more He is given
access to you to help you.
You are not going to be able to change your self. But you are
going to change. Position your self by spending time in the Lord and
His word. Let it build your faith to give Him access. 2
Chronicles 20:15 & 17…Thus says the LORD to you: 'Do not be
afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the
battle is not yours, but God's. You will not need to fight in
this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see
the salvation of the LORD, who is with you. You do not need to
fight but you do need to position your SELF. Aim your fear key,
which aims your focus and turn your total self to the Lord. It is
the Lord that will do the changing in you but it is you who must
give Him the access.
I pray this series on the soul is helping you. I love to hear
from you. Several have said this series is really helping them. I
still have a couple more segments to write on the soul but it will
have to wait until I get back from India and the Philippines. I
thank you for your prayers. You are a part of all the Lord is doing
through me in the nations. You are His prayer partners and I know He
will reward that. |
